On Friday November 20th, Cupp and Oatly invite you to the Sig Drink Sling: A battle where eight skilled baristas dive headfirst into a sea of flavour to create the ultimate signature drink.

No two drinks will be the same. Expect unexpected combinations, creamy textures, bold flavours and a healthy dose of competition.

Each barista will sling their signature creations in front of the jury and the crowd, hoping to make the biggest splash.

Who will serve the drink everyone keeps talking about?
Who will surprise the jury?
And who will sling their way to the title?

The Competition

The Sig Drink Sling consists of two rounds, each with its own challenge. Think creativity, flavour and a little pressure. But creating a great signature drink is about more than just making something delicious. The jury will be looking at taste, creativity and visual presentation. From how the flavours work together to the story behind the drink and how it all comes together in the glass.

Round one

Your Signature

The first round is all about your signature drink.

In the weeks leading up to the competition, each barista creates their own signature drink. The drink must include coffee and at least one Oatly product. To get the creative juices flowing, every participant will receive a selection of Oatly products in the run-up to the event for inspiration.

The coffee is up to you. Choose whichever coffee you think will make your signature shine, with a budget of up to €30 reimbursed.

On the night, you’ll prepare your signature drink on stage using a Sage espresso machine:

2 identical drinks for the jury
1 litre of your signature drink to be divided into tasting glasses for the audience

You’ll need to bring your own glasses for the two drinks presented to the jury.

The audience gets to taste every signature and vote for their favourite, so be sute to make that drink count!

Round two

Think Fast

Everyone moves on to the second round.

This time, there’s no recipe prepared in advance. Instead, you’ll have to create a brand-new signature drink on the spot, using a selection of ingredients from Bidfood and Crusio and the appliances provided by Sage.

You’ll once again prepare 2 identical drinks, which will be tasted and judged by the jury.

And there’s a catch:

You have just 15 minutes.

Think fast and taste faster. Trust your instincts.

Who takes the title?

The overall winner will be the barista with the highest average score across Round 1 and Round 2.

And of course, there’s more than just the title at stake. We’ve got some pretty special prizes lined up for our winners, but we’re keeping those under wraps for now…

But there’s another title up for grabs…

The Crowd Favourite

The jury isn’t the only one with a say.

During Round 1, the audience gets to taste all eight signature drinks and vote for their favourite. The barista with the most audience votes will take home the title of Crowd Favourite.

And yes, there’s a prize for this one too. More details coming soon.
